FIRM PROFILE.

The law offices of Keri Burnstein, P.C. is dedicated to representing men and women in the Michigan tri-county (Oakland, Macomb & Wayne) and surrounding areas involved in all aspects of family law.  We are located in Farmington Hills, Michigan and provide free consultations with flexible hours to meet all your needs.

We provide legal counsel to individuals and families involved in all family law issues.  Our areas of practice include:  divorce, child custody, child support, separate maintenance (legal separation), pre- and post-judgment issues, and all other areas of family law.

I earned my law degree from Wayne State University in 2002.  I was admitted to the Michigan State Bar in 2002.

I work with as well as for my clients to achieve the most successful client outcome tailored to your needs.  I am committed to obtaining a just result for each of my clients. Most importantly, I provide personal service and professional legal representation to each of my clients.

If you need a family law attorney in the Michigan tri-county or surrounding areas to handle your family law issues, please contact me to schedule a free initial consultation.  I offer flexible hours and am happy to meet with you at your convenience.

There are several ways of going about finding an attorney who is right for you.  Referrals are usually the best.  Ask divorced friends or associates if they would recommend their attorney.  Listen in particular to what your friends say about communication - was their attorney responsive?  How long did he/she take to answer phone calls?  Do they feel their attorney fairly represented them?  Do they feel their attorney was on "their side?"  Another form of referral is attorney to attorney.  If you know a reputable attorney ask him or her for a referral.  Frequently attorneys in one field know attorneys in another.  If you are unable to find a personal referral, you can contact your local Bar Association, many of which offer referral services.

The most important thing is to interview and keep interviewing until you find an attorney who is right for you and that you feel comfortable with.  You will be working closely with your attorney and you must have an open and honest relationship.  The initial consultation is an opportunity for you to assess how you personally relate to the attorney and determine if he or she has the knowledge and expertise to represent you.  When interviewing the attorney you will want to include questions regarding the following:  fees, who will be working on your case, and about the attorney's experience.

At Keri Burnstein, PC, we will work with you based on your individual circumstances.  In most cases, a retainer will be required and you will be billed against that retainer.  The amount of the retainer will depend on the particular circumstances of your individual situation and the complexity of the case.  The amount is usually what I feel is sufficient to cover the filing fee, preparation of documents, negotiations, and possibly, either settlement or court appearances.  You will receive detailed monthly billing statements showing you exactly where your money is going.

I will work one-on-one with you through all aspects of your case.  Communication lines will always be open.  You will regularly be provided with updates on the progress of your case.  We will work together to protect your rights during this difficult and emotional time in your life.  Keri Burnstein, PC is here for you and here to help you start the rest of your life.

Please contact us to schedule your free consultation.
